Update: Stabbings in Imperial Beach 

April 18, 2026 – San Diego County Sheriff’s Office officials report that several arrests have been in connection with a san diego county sheriff department logoseries of stabbing incidents in Imperial Beach.

Deputies from the Imperial Beach Sheriff’s Substation responded to three separate stabbing incidents between April 11 and April 14. All three victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries and have since been treated and released from the hospital. In each case, the suspects fled prior to deputies’ arrival.

Sheriff's Detectives rapidly developed investigative leads, obtained descriptions of the five suspects—including indications of possible gang involvement—and began immediate follow-up investigations.

On April 15, personnel from the Imperial Beach Sheriff's Substation, Rancho San Diego Sheriff's Station, Sheriff’s K-9 Unit, Sheriff's East County Regional Gang Street Team, Sheriff’s Fugitive Task Force and the San Diego Police Department located and arrested two individuals connected to the April 14 stabbing:

  • Jonathan Navarro (21) was arrested for a parole violation, participating in a gang and attempted murder.
  • Francisco Guerrero (20) was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, resisting arrest, possession of narcotics and participating in a gang.

On April 16, investigators with the Sheriff’s East County Regional Gang Street Team arrested a third suspect in connection with both stabbings that occurred on April 11:

  • Christopher Lopez (25) was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, robbery, attempted murder and participating in a gang.

Investigators have identified the remaining two suspects involved in the April 11 incidents. It is only a matter of time before they are taken into custody.
