Clifford Chaun Loyer faces up to life in prison without the possibility of parole when he is sentenced on June 26

June 4, 2026 – LOS ANGELES, CA – A jury on Wednesday found Clifford Chaun Loyer guilty on all counts LADA Hochmanand found true the special circumstance allegation of multiple murders for a 2024 two-day shooting spree in downtown Los Angeles that left two unhoused men dead and a third seriously wounded.

“Over two days in April 2024, Clifford Chaun Loyer armed himself with a stolen handgun and hunted human beings on the streets of downtown Los Angeles,” Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman said. “He targeted three unhoused individuals, shooting each of them in the head and killing two. This case shows exactly why people who commit acts of extreme violence must be taken off our streets before they can claim more victims.”

The jury convicted Loyer (41) of two counts of first-degree murder, one count of premeditated attempted murder, two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon, and one count each of grand theft of a firearm and grand theft auto in case 24CJCF02723. Jurors also found true the special circumstance allegation that Loyer committed multiple murders and the allegation of causing great bodily injury to the surviving victim.

Loyer is scheduled to be sentenced on June 26 in Department 109 of the Foltz Criminal Justice Center and faces a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.

On April 24 and 25, 2024, Loyer armed himself with a stolen .380 semi-automatic handgun and shot three unhoused men in the head, killing two and critically injuring a third.

“The surviving victim displayed extraordinary courage. With a bullet still lodged in his neck, he took the witness stand and testified about what happened to him. His testimony was instrumental in securing justice,” District Attorney Hochman said. “I want to thank Deputy District Attorneys Natalie Adomian and Elizabeth French of Fraud and Corruptions Prosecution, working on behalf of Central Trials 13. Their outstanding work and dedication to justice ensured that the defendant would be held accountable for the lives he took and the devastation he caused.”

The case was investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department.
