Arrest Made in Islamic Center Shooting

September 1, 2026 – San Diego Police Department officials report that since the horrific incident at the Islamic Center of San Diego unfolded in May, our teams have worked diligently alongside the FBI to leave no stone unturned in the case. Yesterday, a Grand Jury in North Carolina indicted a 17-year-old female suspected of aiding the shooters from across the country.

She has been charged with three counts of murder and one count of conspiracy to commit murder.

This arrest is a meaningful step toward justice for the three irreplaceable lives that were lost that day. The impact this had on their families, the Islamic Center and our greater San Diego community continues to be felt every day.

We stand committed to exhausting every lead to hold anyone who may have played a role in the shooting accountable. This case is still considered active, and investigators will continue following the evidence to bring justice to the victims and their families.
