Homicide Investigation 

September 4, 2026 – Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on Thursday morning (9/3/26) at approximately 12:45 a.m., our Communications Center received a 911 call from a neighbor who reported that the victim’s adult son had come to his door asking him to call 911 because his father’s girlfriend had shot his father.

Deputies arrived and contacted the adult son. They learned that several people could potentially still be inside the residence. Deputies established a perimeter around the home, and at one point, the suspect came to the front door holding a firearm. She eventually placed the firearm on the front porch and went back inside the residence.

As deputies continued to make announcements over a public address (PA) system to urge the suspect to surrender peacefully, they contacted residents of an accessory dwelling unit (ADU) in the backyard. Three adults and three children were safely evacuated. Deputies also conducted evacuations of nearby residences as several armored vehicles were positioned around the scene.

After repeated attempts to have the suspect surrender were unsuccessful, chemical agents were deployed into the residence. A drone was also deployed inside the home and located the suspect with at least one additional firearm.

After approximately three hours, Special Enforcement Detail (SED) personnel entered the residence and detained the suspect without incident. An adult male was located deceased inside the home.

Crime Scene Investigators (CSI) and Homicide Bureau detectives are currently on scene conducting the investigation. This remains an active and ongoing investigation. At this time, detectives do not believe there are any outstanding suspects.

A small portion of Frederic Avenue will remain closed for several hours while investigators process the scene. We ask the public to avoid the area.
