Serious Injury Hit-and-Run - Encinitas 

September 9, 2026 – San Diego County Sheriff's Office officials report that the North Coastal Sheriff's Station wants the public's help to identify and locate the suspect in a serious injury hit-and-run collision in Encinitas.

On August 16, shortly after 10:15 p.m., deputies responded to a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian in the 400 block of Glen Arbor Drive.

A preliminary investigation found that a silver 2012–2014 Toyota Prius V struck a 49-year-old man who was walking along the roadway. The driver did not stop and left the scene. The victim suffered major injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment. The collision remains under investigation.

The suspect vehicle (similar to the one seen in the above photo) may be missing this part and could have additional front‑end damage.

A vehicle part believed to be the passenger‑side headlight washer (seen in the above photo) was recovered at the scene.
