A Championship Ring. A Lost Story. A Long-Awaited Reunion.
September 19, 2026 – Ventura County Sheriff's Office officials report that while conducting a subject contact, members of our Homeless Liaison Unit (HLU) came across a CIF State Championship ring. Something about the ring didn’t sit right with one of our deputies, so he started asking questions.
He soon discovered the ring had never belonged to the person who had it. That’s when the search began to find its rightful owner.
Our deputies went above and beyond, tracking down the history of the ring and ultimately discovering it had been stolen.
The rightful owner? Former Pacifica High School football player Julian Ibarra, who was a member of the team that earned that 2019 Championship Ring.
After months of it being gone, Julian finally got his championship ring back.
For Julian, it wasn’t just a piece of jewelry. It was a piece of his history, his hard work and a memory he thought was gone forever.
Sometimes going above and beyond means following the smallest clue until you find the person who has been waiting years for something to come home.
