Update to Death Investigation – Unincorporated El Cajon 

November 4, 2026 – San Diego County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at about 11:10 a.m., deputies from the Rancho San Diego Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of a deceased person near the intersection of Willow Glen Drive and Dehesa Road in unincorporated El Cajon.  Upon arrival, deputies located a deceased adult male near the side of the road in a vegetated area.  The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office responded and took custody of the decedent.

On Tuesday, November 3, 2026, the decedent in this case was positively identified by the Medical Examiner's Office as Alexis Daniel Abarca Moreno, date of birth September 9, 1991.  Moreno was a resident of the city of San Diego.  The cause and manner of death are still pending through the Medical Examiner's Office. 

The family of the decedent has been notified. 

The incident remains under investigation.
