Tamarack the injured cub

August 12, 2021 - We are still looking for the Tamarack Fire Bear Cub. If you are in the area you can utilize your GPS locator on your mobile phone. (See links below for Google Maps and Apple Maps)

Please call LTWC at (530) 577-2273, if the line is busy leave a message as it means we are on the phone. We will call you right back. Stay within eyesight of the bear cub and do not leave the area. If it is Tamarack, he will be no larger than a Cocker Spaniel (25lbs.)

Simple guidelines in case of a sighting:

  1. Take a good photo and text it to (530) 577-2273
  2. Please provide GPS coordinates if possible

Google Maps: https://www.businessinsider.com/how-to-find-coordinates...

Apple Maps: https://appletoolbox.com/get-gps-coordinates-apple-maps/

  1. Stay within eyesight of the bear, but do NOT approach. He may run and is quite skilled at hiding.
  2. Wait for support to arrive

We continue to follow up on all leads, but it's critical that you keep eye contact and location as even within 15 minutes he can go deep into hiding and become virtually impossible to find.

Keep up to date on the Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care, Inc. Facebook page.
