August 19, 2021 -  The US Interagency Wildland Fire Air Quality Response Program Smoke Outlook for the Dixie Fire for Thursday.

Special Statement:  Added Grass Valley and Auburn to this outlook. They will no longer be listed in the Lake Tahoe Basin outlook

Fire:
The Dixie Fire is now 678,369 acres, an increase of 42,641 acres with 35% Contained. Fire growth continues on both the East and West Zones.

Smoke: Northerly winds will push smoke to the south and west. Areas north and east of the fire should experience better air quality through the day. Areas to the south and west should experience AQI similar or worse than yesterday. The outlook area is also receiving smoke from as far away as Washington State. Expecting SW winds tomorrow.

Health and Safety:
Long-term smoke events usually have periods when the air is better. When air quality improves, even temporarily, air out your home to reduce indoor air pollution https://www.airnow.gov/sites/default/files/2021-07/reduce-your-smoke-exposure.pdf
