August 22, 2021 - The US Interagency Wildland Fire Air Quality Response Program Smoke Outlook for the Caldor Fire for Sunday.
Fire: The Caldor fire is now 98,149 acres. Surface winds across the fire will again be from the SW; however, the speeds will be reduced by about half. The reduced winds may cause a moderate reduction in fire behavior and spotting distance.
Smoke: Moderated SW winds will continue today as we enter a mild weather pattern. Winds and smoke transport will be dominated by terrain and diurnal patterns. Expect smoke to transport over the sierra crest to the E/NE during the day and drain back to the W/SW down the Hwy. 50 corridor and Eldorado hills in the evening/overnight.
Health and Safety: Take it easier during smoky times to reduce how much smoke you inhale. If it looks or smells smoky outside, avoid strenuous activities such as mowing the lawn or going for a run. Reduce Your Exposure
