August 27, 2021 -  The US Interagency Wildland Fire Air Quality Response Program Smoke Outlook for the Dixie Fire for Friday.

Fire: The Dixie Fire is now 750,672 acres, an increase of 3,581 acres since yesterday, with 46% Containment. Active fire behavior and smoke production remains predominantly on the northern and southeastern perimeters of the Dixie Fire.

Smoke: Heavy smoke remains over the region this morning as light winds yesterday limited most of the clearing around the fire. This is producing Hazardous conditions for Chester and other locations near the fire. In areas further from active fire generally Unhealthy air quality is expected today. A large amount of smoke early this morning has drifted south and west and into the northern Sacramento Valley, this is expected to degrade air quality in this area as well to the Unhealthy range through today and into tomorrow. Later today winds shift westerly and should increase impacts for Portola and Doyle, however the wind is not expected to be strong enough to clear smoke from the Sacramento Valley.
