August 31, 2021 -  The US Interagency Wildland Fire Air Quality Response Program Smoke Outlook for the Caldor Fire for Tuesday.

Special Statement: The fire is scheduled to be under a Red Flag Warning through 11:00 PM tomorrow.

Fire: The Caldor fire is now 191,607 acres, with 16% containment.

Smoke: We'll see similar conditions today in the forecast area. Stronger SW winds will reestablish late this morning and smoke transport will be to the NE. Less smoke settled on the west side of the Sierra Crest last night and that should clear by Noon today. The higher concentrations of smoke in South Lake Tahoe will take longer to clear; however, conditions should improve into the Unhealthy range by mid-afternoon. The North and NW sides of the basin, including Reno, Truckee, Tahoe City, and Tahoma should be spared the majority of the smoke impact as smoke travels over the Southern heel of the Basin. Carson City, but more significantly South Lake Tahoe, will see overnight pooling of smoke tonight and smoky conditions tomorrow morning.

Health and Safety: Take it easier during smoky times to reduce how much smoke you inhale. If it looks or smells smoky outside, avoid strenuous activities such as mowing the lawn or going for a run. Reduce Your Exposure
