CoyoteFest Grand Marshal Helen BaumanSeptember 9, 2019 - The Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge 104 has selected Helen Bauman as the Grand Marshall of this year’s CoyoteFest Parade.  When she rides down Coulterville’s historic Main Street at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 28 leading this “hometown” parade, the community will be honoring one of the most hardworking and dedicated members of the community… a true community builder.

Helen had a 40-year career in education.  She and her husband moved to Coulterville in 1974 when she started teaching in Greeley Hill.  They built their current home on the ranch Helen's great grandfather, John Hallinan, settled in 1852.  There they raised their 2 sons and now enjoy visits from their 4 grandchildren.

Helen changed the direction of her commute when she became one of the first two teachers at the Don Pedro Elementary School.  Then, after earning a master’s degree and obtaining a reading specialist credential, she extended her commute to Waterford and then to Hickman, where she served as the curriculum director before deciding to retire.

Helen was active in the founding of the Northern Mariposa County History Center.  In the past decade she took on the major challenge of rebuilding and revitalizing the museum’s Docent Program, recruiting new volunteers and introducing both training and recognition components into the program.  More recently she moved on to take on the chairmanship of the museum’s Research Committee and also is active in many other areas of the museum, serving as a member of the PR Committee, the Rose Rustlers and the Barrett Renovation Task Force.

So, come on out bright and early and help the IOOF honor one of our most outstanding citizens!
