Update: 12:30 A.M. Monday (10/28): Madera County Sheriff's Office:

De-energization is still expected to remain in effect through the night. Current conditions suggest an all clear weather evaluation at approximately 6:00 A.M., with PG&E patrols of power lines to begin at daybreak.

We have increased patrol staffing on both day and night shifts to assist with additional patrol checks and contacts in the affected areas. As a reminder please be aware of downed trees and power lines.

The Community Resource Center at 48267 Liberty Drive in Oakhurst will reopen tomorrow morning at 8;00 A.M. The Sheriff’s Office non-emergency line is staffed 24/7 at (559) 675-7770. If you have an emergency, please call 911. As always, we will provide more information as soon as it’s available to us.

Update: 9:58 P.M. Sunday: Madera County Sheriff's Office:

De-energization is expected to remain in effect through the night. Current conditions suggest an all clear for weather between 10:00 P.M. and 1:00 A.M., with PG&E patrols of power lines to begin at daybreak. De-energization will remain in effect until patrols by PG&E are completed (tomorrow at the earliest). Clearing the lines can only happen upon the conclusion of the wind event and during daylight which could take a significant amount of time (the majority of a day or up to 48 hours)

As a result of PSPS outages, Bass Lake Unified and Yosemite School Districts will not have school tomorrow.

We have additional patrol deputies working throughout the night. Due to the current wind conditions County crews have responded to downed trees and PG&E has responded to downed power lines.

Public Safety Power Outages have begun in certain areas in Madera County. Power could be out for 12-48 hours.

The Current Wind Event is projected to last until 1am Monday Morning per the National Weather Service.

Conditions could change at any time.

PSPS- Public Safety Power Shutoff - PG&E UPDATE: 10/27 1200- PSPS outages still pending.

Per PG&E, the Weather Window has been pushed back. Estimated de-energization will occur between 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. 

Be prepared for power to go out at any time. As always, we will provide more information as soon as it’s available to us.


October 26, 2019 - PG&E has advised the Sheriff’s Office it will begin Public Safety Power Shut Off for parts of Madera County Tomorrow Sunday, October 27th. Power is expected to be de-energized around 6:00 A.M. Restoration estimates are unknown at this time. 


Areas affected are Oakhurst, Bass Lake, North Fork, Coarsegold, Ahwahnee, and outlying mountain areas.

To support customers in the affected areas, PG&E will open a Community Resource Center located at the Madera County Sheriff’s Substation (42867 Liberty Dr. Oakhurst). The center will be open on Sunday, October 27 (10/27) at 8:00 A.M. for the duration of the outage. Restrooms, bottled water, electronic-device charging and air-conditioning will be provided. The MCSO substation located in Oakhurst will be staffed 24 hours a day during the power outage. Patrol staffing will be increased in the affected areas. Land Line phones may be impacted by the PSPS- residents in the affected area who do not have cell service can drive to the substation in case of an emergency.
