November 19, 2019 - The National Weather Service Hanford Office reports a Winter Storm Warning is in effect for the Southern Sierra Nevada and Kern County mountains above 6,000 feet from late Tuesday night until 4:00 P.M.Thursday afternoon.
A Winter Storm Warning means that significant snow accumulations could make travel exceptionally hazardous or impossible.
The majority of this snow will fall Wednesday afternoon and Wednesday evening.
Up to a foot of snow is possible along the Southern Sierra Nevada crest.
If you plan to travel, consider alternate strategies.
If you must travel, remember to carry tire chains, plenty of food, a good deal of water, and warm clothing in your vehicle.
Yosemite National Park will be temporarily closing Tioga and Glacier Point roads, starting at 3:00 P.M.Tuesday afternoon due to this incoming storm system.
These closures may persist for several days or longer.
