Yosemite National Park above 4,500 Feet in elevation included in Winter Weather Advisory
December 21, 2019 - The National Weather Service Hanford Office reports a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the Southern Sierra Nevada above 4,500 feet from 7:00 A.M. Sunday morning until 10:00 A.M. Monday morning.
A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties.
Snow levels will drop to as low as 4,500 feet Sunday night.
The majority of this snow will fall Sunday afternoon and Sunday evening.
Localized snow amounts of around 15 inches are possible above 5,500 feet.
Winds will gust as high as 45 mph on exposed ridgetops and near the crest.
Motorists should anticipate travel delays and slick, hazardous road conditions, as well as the potential for road closures above 4,500 feet.
If you plan to travel, consider alternate strategies.
If you must travel, remember to carry tire chains, plenty of food, a good deal of water, and warm clothing in your vehicle.
