October 4, 2021 - The US Interagency Wildland Fire Air Quality Response Program Smoke Outlook for the KNP Complex Wildfires in Sequoia National Park for Monday.
Special Statement: Smoke infiltration from the Windy and KNP Complex fires has prompted air quality officials in the San Joaquin Valley to issue an Air Quality Alert through today, October 4.
Fire: The KNP complex is 67,708 acres and 11% contained. For more information see inciweb.nwcg.gov.
Smoke: A thick blanket of smoke continues to remain in the area. Expect Unhealthy air quality in Fresno, Pinehurst, and Visalia. Northwards in the foothills of Madeira, Mariposa, and Tuolumne counties may continue to see smoke impacts. Sierra mountain communities nearest the wildfires will continue to reach "Very Unhealthy" and "Hazardous" categories. Smoke is also increasing East of the Sierra. Gradual improvement may begin Tuesday as a low pressure system is expected to move in bringing slightly better smoke dispersion in the afternoon.
Health and Safety: Air quality may change unexpectedly. If you begin to notice health effects from smoke, you are encouraged to follow the "actions to protect yourself" listed below or in the following link https://www.airnow.gov/sites/default/files/2021-07/reduce-your-smoke-exposure.pdf
