October 6, 2021 -  The US Interagency Wildland Fire Air Quality Response Program Smoke Outlook for the KNP Complex Wildfires in Sequoia National Park for Wednesday.

Special Statement: Smoke infiltration from the Windy and KNP Complex fires has prompted air quality officials in the San Joaquin Valley to issue an Air Quality Alert through Thursday, October 7th.

Fire: The KNP Complex is 84,166 acres and 11% contained. Yesterday, fire behavior increased dramatically in the morning with the sunshine and poor overnight recovery. Extreme fire behavior was observed on the north end of the fire. .

Smoke: Yesterday saw Very Unhealthy to Good air quality in the forecast area. Air quality is slowly improving as forecasted higher humidity and lower temperatures will slightly decrease fire behavior. SJV is forecasted to see a 24-hour average of USG while Three Rivers, Woodlake, Pinehurst, and Hume Lake may see Unhealthy to Very Unhealthy. Predicted southwest winds aloft will transport smoke to the northeast and greatly improve smoke conditions in the forecast area this mid-morning into the afternoon. This also has the potential to bring smoke impacts to Bishop tonight and into the morning. Smoke impacts will be heavily dependent on fire activity.
