October 7, 2021 -  The US Interagency Wildland Fire Air Quality Response Program Smoke Outlook for the KNP Complex Wildfires in Sequoia National Park for Thursday.

Fire: The KNP Complex is 85,952 acres and 11% contained. As fuels begin to moisten, fire behavior will decrease. Limited spread is forecasted due to the reduction in fire behavior. Expect to see low to moderate fire behavior throughout the day.

Smoke: Yesterday saw Very Unhealthy to Good air quality in the forecast area. Air quality has improved and will continue to improve as higher humidity and lower temperatures are forecasted. The Central Valley will see Good to Moderate AQI while the foothill communities will see degraded air quality until the inversion lifts around noon. Hume Lake and Pinehurst should see the worst smoke impacts due to the proximity to the fires. Predicted southwest winds aloft will transport smoke to the northeast. This also has the potential to bring smoke impacts to Bishop tonight and into the morning. Smoke impacts will be heavily dependent on fire activity.

Health and Safety: Air quality may change unexpectedly. If you begin to notice health effects from smoke, you are encouraged to follow the "actions to protect yourself" listed below or in the following link https://www.airnow.gov/sites/default/files/2021-07/reduce-your-smoke-exposure.pdf
