February 22, 2022 - Washington, DC— Congressman Mo Brooks (AL-05) has cosponsored Congressman Jeff Duncan’s (SC-03) bill, H.R.6299, the Protecting Our Democracy by Preventing Foreign Citizens from Voting Act. This bill blocks federal funding to state and local governments that legalize non-citizen voting in any federal, state, or local election. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) has introduced companion legislation in the U.S. Senate.

New York City recently joined San Francisco and numerous other Socialist Democrat cities to legalize non-citizen voting.

Congressman Brooks said, “Non-citizen voting in American elections threatens American governments by denying citizens control over their own governments’ destinies. Voting is a sacred privilege in America that should be exercised only by U.S. citizens. This is the United States, not the United Nations.”

Brooks continued, “Socialist Democrats denigrate the sacrifice of countless Americans who have laid down their lives protecting the right of American citizens to vote and control America’s future. Democrats’ giving voting rights to illegal aliens and other non-citizens undermines our Republic and the voting power of American citizens. Worse yet, Socialist Democrat dilution of the voting rights of American citizens is motivated solely by their desire for political power.”

Brooks added, “The Socialist Democrats’ power grab is a brazen attempt to import a solidly Socialist Democrat voting bloc. Roughly 70% of families with illegal aliens and other non-citizens in them rely on welfare. Socialist Democrats support welfare, therefore welfare recipients support Socialist Democrats. So, the Democrat strategy is to try to import as many non-citizens and illegal aliens into America as possible, all the while giving them voting privileges. Quite frankly, Democrats don’t like the current make-up of the American electorate. They don’t like the votes of American patriots who prefer, honor and support liberty and freedom while abhorring dictatorial Socialism. So, Democrats seek to change the American electorate in their thirst for even more dictatorial power over the lives of American citizens.”

Brooks concluded, “States and cities that allow non-citizen voting shouldn’t get a dime in federal funding. Period.”

“Voting in this country is a right that should solely be limited to American citizens. Allowing non-citizens or illegal immigrants to vote, even if only in state or local elections, gives foreign nationals influence on some of the most important decisions impacting our families, our rights, and our representation in government,” said Congressman Jeff Duncan. “Non-citizen voting has the potential to exacerbate the border crisis and cause a greater erosion of confidence in our electoral process. Non-citizen voting is not some sort of farfetched idea—it is currently allowed in New York, San Francisco, and even in the suburbs of our nation’s capital. I will not stand for this sort of globalist extremism that attempts to undermine what it means to be an American citizen. I am honored to work with Senator Marco Rubio on this very important effort to safeguard the security of our elections.”

“Today, it’s local elections, but tomorrow, it could be state or nationwide elections.
