July 23, 2022 – The Oak Fire in Mariposa County started on the afternoon of Friday, July 22, 2022, and has developed into a fast-moving wildfire that in one day has reached over 4,350 acres, with 0% containment so far. CAL FIRE reported the fire started off Hwy 140 and Carstens Rd., near Midpines, in Mariposa County.

Note: CAL FIRE Incident Management Team (IMT) 5 has been activated to the #OakFire. IMT’s are made up of trained personnel who provide operational management and support to largescale, expanding incidents.

Situation Summary

Fire activity is extreme with frequent runs, spot fires and group torching. Emergency personnel are working to safely evacuate people and are actively engaged in protecting structures. Explosive fire behavior is challenging firefighters.
