August 6, 2015 - CLEVELAND, OH – RNC Chairman Reince Priebus released the following statement following the first Republican presidential primary debates:
Reince Priebus
“Tonight, the country saw a diverse and dynamic Republican Party. We are blessed to have so many candidates that bring with them a range of experiences and a wealth of ideas to strengthen our country. There should be no doubt that the Republican Party’s nomination process will be a true competition, and voters will be the ones who decide our nominee. It’s a stark contrast with the Democratic Party establishment, which will coronate their nominee with hardly any say from voters.

“We’re proud to have a deep bench of candidates, and we’re grateful that tonight’s debates were the most inclusive in the history of either party. Americans had the chance to hear from seventeen candidates. One thing is certain: our candidates all offer a better vision for the future than Hillary Clinton. While Clinton wants to spend more of Americans’ money to grow the government, Republicans want to let Americans keep more of their money to grow the economy. While Clinton wants to stifle innovation, Republicans want to empower entrepreneurs young and old to discover new ways to improve the lives of American families.

“With more debates to come, we look forward to continuing to make this contrast. Voters will have many more opportunities to hear from our candidates and decide which one is best equipped to defeat Hillary Clinton and lead the country toward a bright future."

DNC Chair Statement On  GOP Debates

August 6, 2015 - Washington, DC – DNC Chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz released the following statement on tonight’s GOP debates:

“During both debates today, we saw more of the out of date and out of touch policies that we’re used to seeing from these Republican candidates. Among the biggest losers of tonight’s debate were American women, who were attacked at every turn. We failed to hear any solutions for income inequality, and not even a mention of college affordability, equal pay, raising the minimum wage, or the Voting Rights Act on its fiftieth anniversary.

“Today’s Republican presidential candidates proved that the GOP is solely focused on taking us backwards with policies that cut taxes for the wealthy and leave the middle class behind.

“Tonight, Americans are going to ask themselves, which one of the candidates on that stage will look out for me? The answer is clear: not a single one of them.”
