February 22, 2023 - Merced County Sheriff’s Office officials report on theft at Chevron gas station on Highway 59 in Snelling.

We need your help! Early this morning, Deputies were dispatched to the Chevron gas station on Highway 59 in Snelling for a burglary in progress. While Deputies were enroute, Dispatchers stated that the suspects rammed their vehicle into the side of the gas station and were trying to take the ATM. When Deputies arrived, they checked the area but could not locate the suspects. After reviewing security camera footage, Detectives determined that two suspects entered the building and took several items from shelves. One of the suspects attempted to put a tow strap around the ATM and pull it out of the building, which caused major damage to the building and door.

Detectives believe the suspect's vehicle is a dark-colored Chevy Silverado, possibly an early 2000's model. It also may have back-end damage.
