February 28, 2023 - As a significant weather storm impacts parts of the state, the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) is proactively coordinating the prepositioning of flood fighting personnel to be available if needed.

The prepositioned fire resources include:

Los Angeles County:

  • 1 Local Government Dozer Type I
  • 3 Local Government Engines Type VI
  • 1 Local Government Hand Crew Type I
  • 1 Local Government Dispatcher

Glenn County:

  • 3 Local Government Type III Engines

Fresno County:

  • 1 Local Government Dozer Type II with Dozer Tender

Another series of storm systems will impact much of the state through Wednesday bringing strong winds, heavy rain and mountain snow. Snow levels are expected to be unusually low across the northern mountains, Sierra and adjacent foothills.

Gusty winds of 45 to 65 mph are forecast over much of the Sierra through Wednesday, spreading into Southern California.

The National Weather Service in Sacramento warned about difficult travel conditions in the mountains with near white out conditions at times.

The public is urged to remain aware of their surrounding conditions and reminded to have an emergency plan in place, emergency preparedness kits at home and vehicles full of fuel. Sign-up for emergency alerts, listen to local authorities and warnings, and be prepared to evacuate if necessary.
