June 25, 2023 - Merced – Merced Police Department officials report that on June 24, 2023, at approximately 7:17 P.M., the Merced Police Departments Gang Violence Suppression Unit arrested a known gang member on parole and probation in possession of a stolen firearm.
On 6-24-23 Gang Unit Officer Saldivar and Officer Rocha contacted several subjects in an alleyway between 11th St. and G St. The officers recognized Isaiah Lopez (30) as being a known gang member on CDC Parole and Merced County Probation. When the officers tried to contact Lopez, he began to walk away from them.
The officers were able to detain Lopez and upon conducting a parole search they located a loaded .380 caliber handgun in his front pocket. The handgun was identified as being stolen in Salinas, CA.
Lopez was arrested and booked into the Merced County Jail for various weapons charges and for a violation of probation and parole.
