July 2, 2023 - Merced – Merced Police Department officials report that on July 1, 2023, at approximately 7:00 P.M., the Merced Police Departments Gang Violence Suppression Unit arrested a Merced man for manufacturing firearms.

On July 1, 2023, Gang Officers followed up on information that Jared Jackson (29) and other occupants of his home were manufacturing firearms illegally. Officers served a search warrant at Jacksons home in the 200 block of West 18th Street.

When officers searched the home, they located 6 complete firearms and parts to put together 4 other firearms. There were numerous firearm parts and equipment used to manufacture firearms in the home. The completed firearms included a 10mm ghost gun, a 40-caliber ghost gun, a .22 revolver, a 12-gauge shotgun, a .223 AR-15 rifle, and a .308 AR-15 style rifle. Officers also located ammunition and equipment to reload ammunition.

The firearms in the home were not secured and they were placed in an area where a small child in the home could easily access them. Jackson was booked into Merced County Jail on firearm manufacturing related charges and child endangerment.
