June 21, 2024 – Fresno County Sheriff's Office officials report that property crimes detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office have arrested 30-year-old Armando Castro of Fresno. He has been booked into the Fresno County Jail on charges of burglary, robbery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of stolen property. Castro has a lengthy criminal history.
On June 7th, deputies responded to a burglar alarm going off near W. Adams and S. Cherry Avenues, south of Easton. Deputies discovered tools, electric bicycles and other items had been stolen. Property detectives began an investigation and through evidence collected, Armando Castro was identified as the primary suspect.
As detectives worked to find Castro, a home invasion robbery took place on June 18th near E. Springfield and S. East Avenues. A man armed with a gun forced a 75-year-old woman into a room and ordered her to stay there, threatening to shoot her if she tried to leave. The suspect collected several items around the house and eventually fled with the stolen property. The woman was not injured. Detectives collected evidence, which again pointed to Armando Castro as the suspect.
On June 19th, detectives contacted and arrested Castro, who was in possession of some of the stolen items, along with a handgun. Detectives served a search warrant at Castro’s home and found property stolen from both the burglary and home invasion robbery. Efforts are underway to return the property to its rightful owners.
