Prevent Hot Car Deaths
August 4, 2024 – Placer County Sheriff's Office officials report that as we endure the hottest time of the year, please be alert and take measures to keep your kids and pets safe.
In 2023, 29 children tragically lost their lives due to being left in hot cars.
Already this year, there have been 17 deaths across the country, according to the nonprofit kidsandcars.org.
While leaving a child or pet in a hot vehicle can lead to legal consequences, we realize that this can happen accidentally as well. Modern vehicle technology like keyless entry and smartphone controls can inadvertently lock a child inside, putting them in immediate danger.
Please, be careful. One life lost is too many.
