August 15, 2024 - In the week ending August 10, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 227,000, a decrease of 7,000 from the previous week's revised level. The
previous week's level was revised up by 1,000 from 233,000 to 234,000. The 4-week moving average was 236,500, a decrease of 4,500 from the previous week's revised average. The previous week's average was revised up by 250 from 240,750 to 241,000.
The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was 1.2 percent for the week ending August 3, unchanged from the previous week's unrevised rate. The advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment during the week ending August 3 was 1,864,000, a decrease of 7,000 from the previous week's revised level. The previous week's level was revised down by 4,000 from 1,875,000 to 1,871,000. The 4-week moving average was 1,862,000, an increase of 1,000 from the previous week's revised average. This is the highest level for this average since November 27, 2021 when it was 1,928,000. The previous week's average was revised down by 1,000 from 1,862,000 to 1,861,000.
