Body Recovered in American River
August 20, 2024 – Placer County Sheriff's Office officials report that on August 19th, 2024, our dive team located a man’s body in the American River. It has been identified as 38-year-old Zabiullah Haliqyar, the father who went under while trying to save his son on Sunday, August 18th, 2024. The boy is okay thanks to help from a bystander.
Haliqyar was last seen in the area of No Hands Bridge. On Sunday, his body was located downstream from that area. We want to thank the CAL FIRE Technical Rescue Team who helped during the search, we also want to thank the CHP for assisting with hoist operations using their helicopter.
We extend our thoughts and prayers to the family impacted by this tragedy.
