August 24, 2024 – Fresno Police Department officials report that shortly after midnight on Sunday, August 18, 2024, officers from the Southeast Policing District responded to 750 North Chestnut Avenue (Martin Ray Reilly Park) regarding a male subject who was bloody and appeared to have a broken arm. Upon arrival, officers found the victim, 23-year-old Jared Rogers, lying in a parking stall. Rogers had sustained multiple stab wounds to his upper torso. Initially, he was responsive as officers rendered aid to his wounds. However, Rogers quickly became unresponsive, prompting officers to initiate CPR until relieved by EMS and Fire department personnel. He was transported to CRMC, where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.
During the investigation, Homicide Investigators identified 29-year-old Jacob Harshman as the person responsible for stabbing Rogers. On Wednesday, August 21, 2024, undercover detectives served a search warrant in the area of East Tyler Avenue and North Garden Avenue, where Harshman was located and taken into custody.
Although an arrest has been made, detectives are asking anyone with information regarding this case to contact the Fresno Police Department.
