Update Fatal Vehicle vs Pedestrian Hit-and-Run Collision
September 7, 2024 – Merced, CA – Merced Police Department officials report that on Monday, August 26th, 2024, at approximately 8:57 P.M. Merced Police officers responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian accident near E. Yosemite Ave. and Cordova Ave. in Merced. The pedestrian was found to be deceased and the vehicle that struck the pedestrian had fled the scene.
Following investigation by the Merced Police traffic unit, the outstanding vehicle and driver were located. The driver was identified and was located. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Daniel Miller (50) of Merced. A warrant was issued for his arrest and Miller was contacted. He self-surrendered to the jail and was booked.
The Traffic Division is continuing to investigate the Hit and Run. The Police Department is seeking anyone with information or video of the collision to contact Traffic Officer C. McKeeman or Traffic Officer D. Drees.
Merced Police want to remind everyone that leaving the scene of a collision is not only a crime but causes additional hardship for the other parties or their families.
