Juvenile Arrested After Making Threats Against Local Schools
September 15, 2024 – Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office officials report that they would like to provide an update 
regarding the recent social media posts containing threats toward local schools. This is following the arrest of a juvenile that was made by the Newman Police Department.
In the last 48 hours, our investigators have worked tirelessly to determine the source and credibility of the threats to our students, school faculty, and community. During that time, search warrants and review of evidence were conducted to make our community safe as quickly as possible. While that was occurring, the Newman Police Department was able to obtain the identity of a 14-year-old male who was suspected of making the posts.
Together, the Newman Police Department and the Sheriff’s Office were able to verify that the juvenile was responsible for posting the threats. The investigation will continue to determine if the individual acted alone and if he made other threating posts.
Newman Police officers arrested the boy for threats against an educational institution and criminal threats related to the city of Newman. Additionally, for threats made to the city of Patterson, our office will pursue charges for the same, as well as cyber harassment.
Though it’s unfortunate that this incident took place, it exemplifies the power of cooperation with our communities and other law enforcement agencies to keep our cities and schools safe. We encourage the public to report any additional information regarding this case or future concerns.

The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office has been investigating recent social media posts containing threats directed at schools throughout the region, including within our county. More specifically, schools in the city of Patterson have been referenced. At this point, we have yet to find evidence that any of these threats are credible.
Our top priority is the safety and security of students, school staff, and the surrounding community. Despite a lack of credibility, we will remain vigilant and ask that the community do the same. As we continue to communicate with our allied law enforcement agencies and school districts, we encourage people to immediately report any suspicious activity or additional threats to law enforcement.
We want to reinforce that we take all threats seriously and will thoroughly investigate any brought to our attention. We will work with the Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office to prosecute Stanislaus County District Attorney charges that may be brought against a person include threats against an education institution and criminal threats.
