Narcotics Detectives Take the ‘High’ Away from High School
October 12, 2024 – Fresno County Sheriff’s Office officials report that Narcotics detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office have arrested four people, seized large amounts of various drugs and recovered firearms and cash from a property located just south of a High School in Fresno.
A tip from Valley Crime Stoppers recently came to our office, which alleged illegal drug sales in an open to the public type setting. Detectives assigned to the Special Investigations Task Force (SITF), Multi-Agency Gang Enforcement Consortium (MAGEC), Property Crimes Unit, High Impact Investigation Team (HIIT) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) began working together on an investigation.
On Thursday, October 10th, detectives served a search warrant at a property on the 3800 block of N. Grantland Avenue. They discovered approximately 100 people in and around a shop located behind a home. The majority of people quickly fled the property; however, detectives did detain about 30 people for questioning.
Detectives learned many vendors gather at this location several times a week to illegally sell drugs. The event is titled, “Sunday Funday.” This activity has been taking place here since at least the beginning of the year. Customers vary in all ages and socioeconomic status. Due to the proximity to the high school, there is a possibility that students were aware of the events and made purchases there.
Detectives ultimately arrested four adult men, recovered four handguns and seized the following narcotics.
- 400 lbs. of processed marijuana
- 120 lbs. of THC edibles
- 60 lbs. of concentrated cannabis
- 11 lbs. of THC vape products
- 112 oz. of Promethazine syrup
- 7 lbs. of Psilocybin mushrooms
- Small amounts of Cocaine, LSD, MDMA, Ketamine, DMT and Alprazolam pills (Xanax)
