Bodies of Two Men Recovered in American River
November 26, 2024 – Placer County Sheriff’s Office officials report on two men missing in the American River.
It’s with heavy hearts that we share that on Monday, November 25th our Dive team in coordination with CAL FIRE NEU recovered the bodies of two men in the American River. We are still working to positively identify the two victims. The bodies were initially discovered by a Placer County Sheriff’s Office Drone Operator, downriver from where the men were last seen.
The recovery operation was extremely technical and in a portion of the river with rapids and strong current. A complex pulley system of ropes was established and our dive team boat was attached. Our dive team carefully navigated to the middle of the river and were able to recover the bodies of both men.
The search efforts were comprised of searchers and K9’s out looking along the shoreline, Falcon 30 and drones searching overhead, and the dive team searching from the water.
We extend our condolences to the loved ones impacted by this tragedy.
