Arrests Made in Attempt Homicide Investigation
January 26, 2025 – Modesto, CA – Modesto Police Department officials report that Investigators with the Modesto Police Department’s Street Gang Unit have arrested several known members of the Norteño criminal street gang following a shooting in early January.
The shooting occurred in early January 2025, when an adult male was targeted by several known gang members. Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident, in which multiple rounds from multiple firearms were fired into the victim’s vehicle.
The Street Gang Unit immediately launched an investigation, uncovering multiple other crimes, including a residential burglary in which several firearms were stolen by the same suspects involved in the shooting.
The weeks-long investigation culminated on Thursday with the simultaneous execution of several search and arrest warrants throughout Modesto and Turlock. With the assistance of the Modesto Police Department SWAT Team, the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s SWAT Team, the Ceres Police Department SWAT Team, and the Stanislaus County Probation Department, several suspects were arrested, and evidence was recovered.
Two adult male suspects and two juvenile male suspects were safely taken into custody just after 7:00 a.m. The juvenile suspects, who cannot be identified due to their age, were arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Juvenile Hall on charges related to attempted homicide, firearm possession, and participation in a criminal street gang, with an enhancement for gang involvement.
The adult suspects were identified as:
- Chadwick Saucedo, 19, of Modesto, CA, was booked for attempted homicide, burglary, participation in a criminal street gang, narcotics for sales and firearm violations.
- Elijah Gonzalez, 18, of Modesto, CA, was booked for attempted homicide, burglary, participation in a criminal street gang, narcotics for sales and firearm violations.
Additional illegal items recovered during the operation included weapons and gang-related paraphernalia. More arrests related to this investigation are expected in the future.
Sgt. Mike Harman, who supervises the Street Gang Unit, said: “The members of the Street Gang Unit are committed to keeping our community safe by taking these violent gang members off the streets. We will not tolerate criminal gang activity in our community and will do everything in our power to arrest these individuals.”
This is an active and ongoing investigation, and no additional information will be released at this time.
We would like to thank the Ceres Police Department, Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department and the Stanislaus County Probation Department for their assistance with this investigation.
