Arrest for Felony Battery and Resisting Arrest
March 7, 2025 – Sonora Police Department officials report that 55-year-old Donald Tourte was arrested Tuesday on felony battery charges after an investigation into a physical altercation. At around 5:40 p.m., officers responded to the 400 block of South Stewart Street regarding two subjects fighting. The fight broke up just before the officer’s arrival. The investigation revealed that during the altercation, Tourte strangled the other male, elevating the offense to a felony. When officers attempted to place Tourte under arrest for the battery, Tourte refused to comply with the officer’s commands and physically struggled with the authorities.
Tourte was booked into the Tuolumne County Jail for felony battery and resisting, obstructing, and delaying an Officer.
