Update: Sheriff’s Office Continues Investigation into Suspicious Le Grand RV Fire
March 16, 2025 – Le Grand, CA – Merced County Sheriff’s Office officials report that in conjunction with Arson Investigators from Merced County Fire, they continue to investigate the cause of a suspicious fire that occurred on March 7, 2025, at approximately 11:27 P.M. in the 3800 block of Washington in Le Grand.
Due to the condition of the remains, investigators have been unable to positively confirm the identity of the victim. However, it has been determined that the victim was a male.
An autopsy was conducted on Monday, and forensic experts are working to gather additional information that may assist in determining the circumstances surrounding the incident. Further testing, including toxicology and other forensic analyses, is underway to help confirm the victim’s identity and assess any other contributing factors. Investigators are also conducting specialized examinations to determine if any accelerants were used to start the fire.
