Arrests Made in Winton Homicide Investigation - Victim Identified
March 25, 2025 – Merced County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on March 22, 2025, at approximately 7:30 P.M., the Merced County
Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the 7100 block of Bobbi Avenue in Winton for a report of a male subject bleeding in front of a residence.
Deputies, along with the California Highway Patrol and Merced County Fire, responded to the scene and located a male lying on the ground with apparent injuries. First responders determined the man sustained a gunshot wound to the head. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was airlifted by medical helicopter.

Tragically, the victim later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. He has been identified as 24-year-old Angel Ramirez of Winton.
The investigation revealed that the incident occurred during a gathering at a residence in the 7100 block of Bobbi Avenue, which both the suspect and victim attended.
As a result of the investigation, a 17-year-old juvenile from Winton has been arrested and booked into Juvenile Hall for murder. Additionally, 20-year-old Jerardo Ochoa-Aguilar of Winton has been arrested for accessory to murder.
Investigators are still working to determine a motive for the shooting.
