Modesto Police Department Investigating Hughson Deaths as Homicide-Suicide
May 6, 2025 – Modesto Police Department officials report that on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at approximately 9:28 a.m., Stanislaus 
Regional 911 received a call from a juvenile reporting that their parents were deceased. Deputies from the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office immediately responded to the 1700 block of Fontana Ranch Road in Hughson.
Upon arrival, deputies safely evacuated two children from the home. During a subsequent search of the residence, they located two deceased adults, identified as 40-year-old Daniel Hutsell and 37-year-old Dinella Hutsell, both of Hughson. Daniel Hutsell was a Sergeant with the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department.
Based on initial findings, Modesto Police Department detectives are investigating this as a suspected homicide-suicide. The investigation remains active, and no further information is available at this time.
