June 24, 2025 – Fresno County Sheriff’s Office officials report that Homicide detectives with the Sheriff’s Office have received new information about the 2020 murder of Rosendo Herrera in San Joaquin. Detectives need assistance with locating 25-year-old Erick Javier Lopez in relation to this investigation. He is NOT a suspect in the case; however, detectives need to speak with Lopez.

It was shortly after midnight on October 8, 2020, Fresno County Sheriff’s Office dispatchers received a call from a homeowner who stated there was an injured man in front of their house located on the 9000 block of Donna Street in San Joaquin. Deputies arrived and found the man, later identified as Rosendo Herrera, to be suffering from gunshot wounds. Deputies provided first aid until EMS personnel arrived and took over medical attention. Herrera died a short time later.
