Reckless Driving/Fleeing Not Worth It

July 28, 2025 – Oakhurst CHP officials report that on July 18, 2025, at approximately 12:17 A.M., a CHP Oakhurst officer observed a vehicle traveling 114 MPH southbound on State Route 41, just north of Safari World Drive in Coarsegold. When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver made a left turn onto Road 417 and began fleeing recklessly, speeding, making multiple U-turns, and even turning off the vehicle’s lights in an attempt to avoid detection.

Due to the extreme danger posed by the suspect’s driving behavior, the officer made the decision to discontinue the pursuit for the safety of the public.

But that wasn’t the end of the story.

Using CHP investigative tools and a court order, officers identified the suspect vehicle and secured a 30-day seizure order.

On July 25, 2025, at approximately 7:20 P.M., CHP Oakhurst officers located the vehicle parked in front of the Pines Bar in Bass Lake. It was immediately impounded for the full 30 days. A felony evading complaint will also be forwarded to the Madera County District Attorney’s Office for review.

Let’s be clear, running from law enforcement isn’t a shortcut, it’s a trap. You may get away in the moment, but the consequences are just waiting around the corner.

Fleeing puts lives at risk, racks up charges, and eventually ends with flashing lights and a tow truck.

If you’re thinking of turning your car into a getaway plan, think again. It’s not a race you’ll win!
