August 23, 2025 – Fresno Police Department officials report that on Monday, July 21, 2025, at approximately 6:52 p.m., Northwest Policing District officers responded to a shooting near North State Street/West Acacia Avenue regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered 33-year-old Kuvar Kumar, who was unresponsive. Despite immediate life-saving efforts, Mr. Kumar was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Homicide detectives determined that Victim Kumar was shot while arriving home. The investigation revealed the murder was related to an interpersonal conflict, and detectives believe the victim was acquainted with the suspects. Detectives worked tirelessly to develop leads and learned the suspects were not local to Fresno and fled the area shortly after the shooting. Detectives’ efforts identified two suspects: Krishan Kumar (24) and Vishal Vishal (31), both from Southern California.

On Thursday, August 14, 2025, coordinated search warrants were executed in Bakersfield and Victorville, California relating to this investigation. The operation included the Bakersfield Violent Crime Apprehension Team (VCAT), SWAT team, California Highway Patrol (CHP) Central Division Investigative Services Unit , CHP Central Division Warrant Services Team, and the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Specialized Enforcement Division. As a result, Krishan Kumar (24) and Vishal Vishal (31) were taken into custody, and firearms were recovered.
