October 20, 2025 - WASHINGTON - Last week, U.S. Senators Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), along with Kevin Cramer (R-ND), Andy Kim (D-NJ), and Steve Daines (R-MT), announced their Servicemembers’ Credit Monitoring Enhancement Act passed the Senate as part of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2026. This legislation now goes to the House of Representatives for a vote.

The bipartisan legislation provides free credit monitoring for all armed service members, including non-active duty reservists and National Guard members. Currently, only active duty servicemembers are eligible for free credit monitoring.

“Servicemembers are heroes who put their lives on the line for our nation and we must support them in every way we can,” said Klobuchar. “By making free credit monitoring available for every single member of our armed forces, this bipartisan legislation will improve the financial security of military families and give them greater peace of mind.”

“Our servicemembers put so much on the line and are frequently deployed or regularly moving, leaving them more vulnerable to financial fraud,” said Cramer. “The inclusion of the Servicemembers’ Credit Monitoring Enhancement Act in this year’s NDAA is an important step to protecting their financial security.”

“I have supported this legislation since I was a member of the House of Representatives and first represented Guard and Reserve service members at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst who are unfairly cut out of the full benefits they deserve. All of our brave men and women in uniform and their loved ones should have peace of mind when it comes to their financial well-being and security. This legislation is a successful part of this year’s NDAA to have the backs of all who have volunteered to serve our nation in uniform,” said Kim.

The Servicemembers’ Credit Monitoring Enhancement Act makes free electronic credit monitoring that is currently available to active duty service members available to all armed service members, including non-active duty reservists and National Guard members.
