Caltrans to Re-Open State Route 140 in Mariposa County
One-Way Traffic Controls
April 14, 2026 – MARIPOSA COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) issued a temporary full closure of State Route 140 (SR-140) near Briceburg in Mariposa County as the result of a debris slide event that occurred on Sunday, April 12, 2026.
Our Caltrans geotechnical and maintenance teams have made good progress removing the debris, assessing the slope, and making needed repairs to the roadway this week.
Beginning Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. Caltrans will be re-opening SR-140 to motorists under 24/7 one-way traffic control with rock spotters in place from Savage Trading Post to Yosemite Cedar Lodge. Caltrans top priority is the safety of the traveling public, as well as our crews, and the contractor who are all working diligently to restore the roadway as safely as possible. Caltrans is asking motorist to expect 5-10 minute delays or more, and to slow down and #MoveOver through the construction zone.
This work is subject to change due to weather, availability of equipment, materials, and or construction-related issues.
