2025 Clovis Homicide Suspects Arrested in Mexico
August 23, 2026 – Clovis Police Department officials report that two suspects have been arrested in Mexico and extradited to California to face charges for the December 2025 homicide of 37-year-old Geoffrey Bernardi of Clovis. U.S. Marshals have been in Mexico assisting the Clovis Police Department and on August 19, 2026, both suspects were taken into custody.
The two suspects have been identified as 40-year-old Antonio Garcia of Tulare and 32-year-old Misty Gomez of Dinuba. Both suspects are back in California on their way to Fresno County Jail and are each facing charges related to the homicide. Our investigation led us to these two suspects following evidence located, communications between the two, and follow-up by our detectives. It was discovered that Gomez was the girlfriend of the victim, however, she is also married to Garcia.

This homicide took place just after midnight on December 18, 2025, on a canal near Barstow and Peach. The victim was transported to the hospital after he was severely beaten. Less than two days later, he passed away after life-saving measures were taken both at the scene and the hospital. Technology helped detectives track both suspects to Mexico where they hid for months.
When Gomez fled the country, she took her two young children from past relationships with her. Those children have been missing from the City of Dinuba since April; however, they are in the process of being reunited with family with the assistance of Child Protective Services (CPS).
The Clovis Police Department would like to thank the U.S. Marshal Service and the Dinuba and Fresno Police Departments for their assistance with this investigation.
