March 5, 2022 - On March 3, 2022, at approximately 10:17 p.m., Kern County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the 26500 block of Nudgent Street in Boron, CA for the report of a suspect shooting a BB Kern County Sheriffs logogun at trailers and vehicle windows. When deputies arrived, they located the adult male suspect armed with a bow and arrow. The suspect barricaded himself inside a trailer and refused to exit.

The suspect began making threats to blow up the trailer, and attempted to light it on fire, but was unsuccessful.

California Highway Patrol, Cal City PD, Kern County Fire, and a Kern County Sheriff’s Office K-9 team responded to the scene. Deputies continued to make announcements ordering the suspect to exit unarmed and surrender peacefully, but the suspect refused. KCSO’s SWAT and Crisis Negotiation Team were called to the scene.

As deputies continued to attempt negotiations, the suspect emerged onto the porch. Deputies could see the suspect was armed with several weapons. At approximately 5:07 a.m., an officer-involved shooting occurred. The suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene. Their identity will be released by the Coroner’s Office pending next of kin notification. No one else was injured.

Kern County Sheriff’s Office detectives responded to the scene to assume the investigation.
