July 21, 2023- AZUSA – California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) officials are searching for an incarcerated person who walked away from Julius Klein Conservation Camp in Los Angeles County on Thursday, July 20, 2023.  

Evan Chezick was discovered missing at approximately 7:30 a.m. during a morning head count. A search of the fire camp buildings and grounds was immediately conducted.  CDCR’s Office of Correctional Safety, Los Angeles County Fire, and local law enforcement agencies have been notified and are assisting in the search.

Chezick, 41, is 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs 187 pounds.  He has blonde/strawberry blonde hair, blue eyes and was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and gray sweat shorts.

Chezick was sentenced to CDCR from Madera County on September 20, 2022, to serve 5 years and 4 months for Possession/Own Firearm by Felon or Addict Second Striker and, Resisting/Deterring Officer w/ Threat / Violence Second Striker.

Anyone who sees Chezick or has knowledge of their whereabouts should immediately contact law enforcement, call 911 or Camp Commander Shane Baker at (626) 910-1213 / 1290.

Since 1977, 99 percent of all offenders who have left an adult institution, camp or community-based program without permission have been apprehended.
