Update: Fire Investigation in Lemon Grove
July 23, 2023 - San Diego County Sheriff’s Department officials report that a man is behind bars in connection with an arson at a motel in Lemon Grove.
On Friday, July 21, a fire broke out at a motel in the 8000 block of Broadway. No one was hurt. The Sheriff's Bomb/Arson Unit determined the cause of the fire to be arson.
On Saturday, July 22, Sheriff's Bomb/Arson detectives identified a suspect and developed probable cause to arrest Carlos Antonio Landa (DOB 02/08/1984).
Detectives worked with investigators from the Metro Arson Strike Team (MAST) who arrested and booked Landa on July 21 for assault and arson-related charges in an unrelated incident in the City of San Diego.
Landa was rebooked by Sheriff's Detectives on an additional charge of arson to an inhabited structure stemming from the incident in Lemon Grove.
Landa is being held on numerous arson and assault-related charges. Bail has been set at $250,000.
