Fatal Traffic Collision in San Marcos 

January 25, 2024 - San Diego County Sheriff’s Department officials report that on January 23, 2024, at about 6:30 P.M., Deputies responded to san diego county sheriff department logoan unknown injury vehicle collision involving a rollover vehicle. The location of the collision was W. San Marcos Blvd. near the intersection of Discovery St. in the City of San Marcos, County of San Diego. Upon arrival, Deputies noticed a 2019 Subaru Forester in the number one lane of Eastbound W. San Marcos Blvd. and a blue 2022 Porsche with damage to the driver's side. The Subaru was on its roof with all four tires in the air. Deputies attempted to assist the driver out of the Subaru to no avail. San Marcos Fire and paramedics arrived on the scene shortly after. The 26-year-old male driver was extricated from the Subaru and transported to Palomar Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.

Based on the preliminary investigation, it was determined the Subaru was initially traveling eastbound on W. San Marcos Blvd. when the vehicle traveled into another lane, striking the Porsche. The collision caused the Subaru to roll over onto its roof. At this time alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the collision.

The Medical Examiner's Office will make an identification of the man, as well as determine the cause and manner of death pending notification of his family.
